Abstract
The present study examined the implications of mining closure to adjacent communities with reference to Resolute Tanzania Limited in Nzega, Tanzania. The study was a descriptive in nature combining qualitative and quantitative approaches. Questionnaires, interviews, observation and documentary review techniques were used to collect data. Data were analysed using content and descriptive statistical analysis. The study findings indicate that most projects
which were introduced by the mining company in the study area collapsed shortly after mining closure. It was concluded that, the collapse of the projects led to developmental drawbacks in the study area. The study therefore recommends policy intervention to enhance sustainability in the
mining sector.
